CAN I COMBINE THIS WITH MY VACATION?
Absolutely! Your Global VolunTourism (GVT) program will be designed with this objective in mind. It’s up to you how to integrate Global VolunTourism into your vacation. We can help you develop a pre- or post-travel itinerary to complement your GVT experience. While we strongly encourage you to participate as a Global Voluntourist for a week, a month or longer, we can arrange a GVT community service project that can be accomplished in a single day as part of your destination vacation. Either way you will participate in a GVT program and positively influence the lives of the people you are helping, the people around you and yourself. DO I HAVE TO BE A TEACHER? No, anyone can participate in a GVT program. Once we have a completed profile we will recommend an appropriate GVT program for you that will use your individual life-skill. GVT Programs are knowledge-exchange programs during which friends help friends. While individuals with specific life-skills and professional expertise are essential in certain GVT Programs, individuals with an interest in a particular program also are a vital component to the success of Global VolunTourism. There are many different ways in which you can participate in a GVT Program. IS THIS TAX DEDUCTIBLE TO ME? Because of our organization’s 501(c)(3) status, you may be able to deduct all or part of the cost of the GVT Program from your taxes. For more detailed information consult your accountant. HOW CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION?
Just email or call us with your mailing address, and we will be happy to send you an introductory package of information and submit the completed Profile & Preferences form via e-mail, mail or fax, and we’ll contact you with suggested programs. ARE THE PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN OR ADULTS, AND WHERE ARE THEY HELD? GVT Programs entail working with children and/or adults. We offer programs in Bhutan, Burma, Viet Nam and soon in Thailand. The Global VolunTourist can teach English classes in a school, help out in an orphanage, work at center for special-needs children, build a house in a local community, conduct a workshop using your career skills, teach a class on hospitality, perform public health services in the field or combine different activities. I WOULD LOVE TO DO THIS, BUT I WOULD BE TRAVELING ALONE AND AM NOT SURE I COULD DO THIS BY MYSELF? Many of our Global VolunTourists are single travelers. Your GVT Program Module includes services of an English-speaking Program Coordinator and/or a local assistant. WHERE WOULD I STAY?
Our GVT Programs include hotel accommodations which vary depending on the location. Hotel categories vary, but all have private bathroom and breakfast included. More information on hotels is provided with the program details. I WOULD LOVE TO DO THIS BUT I DON’T KNOW IF I QUALIFY TO BE A GLOBAL VOLUNTOURIST? Absolutely!
